The Rivercity Steel Band is a community band formed by the Academy of Steel Drums based at Cannon Hill, Qld.

The Rivercity Steel Band will be bringing the songs and rhythms of the Caribbean to the Big Night Out in several short sets performed on Stage 2 throughout the evening.
The Rivercity steel band made its debut performance at the Big Night Out in 2008 as the Steel Drum Workshop of the Australian Academy of Steel Drums. Since then the band has performed at school events and markets around Brisbane. The instruments come from Trinidad, home of the steel band, and were originally made from 45 gallon oil drums. Our band comprises tenors, double seconds, cello and bass pans and a drum kit. Our performers have a range of experience from professional to beginner. We welcome new members – contact Kristi 0434 086 995 or visit our website for further information. Future performances include the Black Snake Creek Festival on Friday 9 October.
