Welcome to Wildwords 2009 – Queensland kids thinking creatively
The children’s festival being held during Term 3, 2009 for the students, teachers and families of the Gateway Learning Community and their wider local community.
This year the focus for Wildwords is the staging of Big Night Out the GLC’s premier, annual, showcase event for the whole community.
Bring your fold up chairs and picnic blankets, find a spot on the grass in front of the massive 12 x 10 metre stage, and settle in to enjoy the performances of around 1000 GLC students and community guests on:

This year the ‘Big Night Out’ is one of the official events on the Q150 calendar, celebrating Queensland 150th year, and will feature song, music, dance and drama in a 3 ½ hour performance spectacular which will include:
- A combined schools choir of over 170 students
- The Balmoral SHS Band with guest professional musician
- The River City Steel Band’s Calypso Rhythms
- The return of the Balmoral SHS Staff Rock band
- The GLC Yr 6 and 7 Bands combining as a large orchestra
- Multi-media performance piece by Balmoral SHS Arts students
- An excerpt from Norman Park SS’s musical
- Musical theatre, drama and Ukulele’s from Morningside SS
- Recorder band, short films and rapping from Bulimba SS
- Grand choir performance from Cannon Hill SS
- Modern dance from Murarrie SS
- Song, drama and strings from Seven Hills SS
There will also be a range of games and activities on the oval provided by community groups, plus lots of food and the ever popular fireworks finale!
